Our Story
Companionship Built on Patience and Respect
Suria was founded on a simple conviction: older adults deserve company that feels natural and unhurried, not mechanical. Every programme we offer reflects that belief.

Suria — A Name That Means Light
Suria was established in Kuala Lumpur by a group of coordinators and community workers who had all, at some point, found themselves trying to organise support for an ageing parent or grandparent from a distance. They knew how tiring that felt — the phone calls to neighbours, the uncertainty about whether today had been a good day — and wanted to offer families something steadier.
The name Suria — sunlight in Bahasa Malaysia — reflects the warmth we try to bring into every household we visit. We are not a medical service and we do not make promises about outcomes. What we do is show up regularly, notice when something is off, keep the family informed, and make the older adult feel that someone genuinely has a moment for them.
Our coordinators are based in the Klang Valley and understand the rhythms and cultural textures of KL life — including festive seasons, community events, and the importance of familiar language when talking with older Malaysians.
Our Vision
A Malaysia where every older adult at home has someone to share the day with — and every family, wherever they are, knows that person is looked after.
Our Mission
To coordinate friendly, practical support for older adults at home — and give their families the straightforward information they need to feel at ease.
Our Values
Patience, honesty, consistency, and respect for each person's pace. We do not rush visits, and we do not overpromise.
The People Behind Suria
Our Core Team
Siti Rahimah
Head of Coordination
Siti has spent twelve years working alongside community organisations in the Klang Valley. She oversees all client programmes and personally leads each family onboarding conversation.
Arjun Krishnan
Client Relations & Outreach
Arjun coordinates family communications and manages the weekly activity calendar for social engagement clients. He speaks English, Tamil, and Bahasa Malaysia fluently.
Lim Wei Ling
Household Support Lead
Wei Ling oversees daily living coordination, working with household helpers and ensuring each task list reflects the older adult's actual preferences, not just a standard template.
How We Operate
Standards We Hold Ourselves To
These are not formal accreditations — they are the internal commitments we make to every family before the first visit.
Consistent Companion Assignment
The same coordinator or companion visits each client wherever possible. Familiarity and routine matter, and we design our rotas to protect that.
Careful Data Handling
Family and client information is kept confidential, shared only internally on a need-to-know basis, and never passed to outside parties without consent.
Documented Visit Records
Each visit is logged, and the key points are summarised for the family. Nothing is passed along verbally and forgotten — it is written down.
Open Communication
Families are encouraged to raise concerns at any point. Our coordinator is reachable by phone during office hours, and we respond to messages within one working day.
Cultural Sensitivity
Malaysia's multicultural households have distinct preferences and observances. We make no assumptions and ask families directly how they would like things handled.
Regular Programme Reviews
Each month, we check in with the family to confirm the programme still fits. If circumstances have changed, we adjust the scope without additional administrative friction.
Home Companionship Coordination in Kuala Lumpur
Many families across the Klang Valley reach a point where they want more company and practical organisation in the home of an older relative — but are unsure where to begin. Employment agency routes involve complex paperwork; informal arrangements can be unreliable. Suria sits between those options, offering structured, family-facing coordination that is straightforward to understand and adjust.
Our three programmes cover the most common situations families encounter: wanting the older adult to have a fuller social week, needing dependable reassurance when they live at a distance, and managing a busier household routine on a daily basis. Each programme is framed around general household activities, friendly visits, and information sharing — not health or personal-care services.
We operate primarily in the Kuala Lumpur area, including Chow Kit, Brickfields, Bangsar, Petaling Jaya, and surrounding neighbourhoods. Families interested in arranging support outside this range are welcome to contact us, and we will advise honestly on what is currently feasible.
Suria is committed to plain, honest communication. We do not use industry jargon, we do not promise what we cannot deliver, and we do not lock families into arrangements that no longer suit them. Our monthly rolling model is designed precisely to keep the relationship straightforward and the family in control.
